Finovate is one of the largest conferences dedicated to showcasing the latest and greatest innovative financial and banking technologies, attracting large audiences of financial and banking executives, venture capitalists, and entrepreneurs. For the past nine years, more than 700 fintech companies have graced the Finovate stages, sharing their cutting-edge technology in a unique demo-only format.

This year, Leverage PR will make it’s way back to FinovateSpring in San Jose, California as three of our outstanding clients – NYMBUS, Student Loan Genius and TransCard – will showcase their unique innovations in fintech.

Given our professional and personal connections to the event, we’ve put together a few tips on how you can turn your attendance into long-term business connections and success.

Immerse yourself into the hashtag game.
Join the conversation both before and during Finovate. Create original content that talks about why you’re attending and who you hope to see. Include #Finovate, #Finovate2016, #FinovateSpring2016 etc. along with hashtags relevant to your organization or business to maximize your digital footprint and reach with other attendees and stakeholders. This has the potential to lead to new connections and drive traffic to your website.

Connect, connect, connect!
It is important to engage with your audience ahead of the event. Identify speakers and attendees you wish to engage with and reach out via social media or more traditional methods before the action kicks off. This will maximize your connection because you can skip the introductions at Finovate and instead delve into an already-established relationship. For those most sought-after individuals, it may be the difference between securing a meeting or meaningful discussion or not.

Make those connections matter.
As you head home from Finovate, your carry-on will probably bear a bit more weight due to the massive amount of business cards you’ve collected over the past two days. Whatever you do, don’t let them sit in your bag for months. Make sure to reach out to your new connections via email then add them on LinkedIn if you hope to turn a name on a card into a real business partner or industry-related source.

Following these tips will allow you to use your time wisely at Finovate and just might be the difference between a great time and a sound business investment. With the festival already around the corner, it’s time to start making a plan that integrates these strategies with your brand at the top of everyone’s mind.
